Introducing Pomona Partners: a different kind of speaker agency
I haven’t met a speaker, writer, or influencer of any description who doesn’t admit that they are somewhat flying blind. Wherever they are in their career, there’s a sense that they have had to make it up as they go along. And they still have questions. I certainly do, even after ten years as a professional speaker, writer and sometime broadcaster.
Yet beyond a couple of Facebook groups, no-one to my knowledge has tried to bring together a community of people to find and share answers. About how you get booked, how much you should charge, or how you develop your skills. Or any of the many other questions that people ask constantly in this diverse field.
Pomona Partners is an attempt to create that community. Yes, this is a commercial proposition. An agency that will represent those making all or part of their living from public speaking, writing, broadcasting and other fields of influence. But it is also an academy. A collective of people sharing both their questions and their answers.
As this organisation develops, I hope that we can build a set of blueprints for a successful career in any of the many disciplines we might come to represent. Or if not a complete blueprint, then at least a set of stories, case studies, of people who have trodden the path before.
To the speakers who join us, I hope you find working with Pomona Partners rewarding and valuable. That we can help you to achieve greater financial reward, but more importantly, greater career satisfaction. That we can help you develop and grow, as well as representing you to the world.
