Laura Carroll

Voice Coach

Why should you work with Laura?

Laura is skilled at working with actors and performers to build their strength in connecting with their audiences and with their material.

If you want to develop from speaking your work, to truly performing it well, if you want to work on your stage presence, or the quality of your speaking voice, if you feel like you’re rushing your sentences, running out of breath or stumbling over your sentences more often than you’d like, or if you feel you’re lacking a connection with your audience when you speak, then Laura is the coach to work with.

Laura offers an individual diagnostic of all elements of voice use; breath work, resonance, range, articulation and timing. You will receive tailored techniques for the types of presenting you are doing, ensuring you can embed positive habits rather than being bombarded with information that sounds good but is soon forgotten.

Option 1: Individual Analysis & Feedback

If you’re speaking in or around Manchester, Laura will attend your event, and offer comprehensive feedback on vocal efficacy, clarity and audience engagement as well as the ease with which you use your voice and body language to present your ideas. If you’re speaking further away, Laura’s report will be based on your showreel.

Process: You will begin with a scoping call (up to 1 hour) with Laura to discuss where you believe your strengths and your areas for development are, what you feel comfortable with and where you’d like to improve. Laura will then attend a live speaking event, or watch your showreel, and then deliver a report to you, with some top tips for improvement.

Option 2: Individual Coaching Programme

To aim for more intense and in depth improvement, after you’ve chosen option 1, you’ll work together with Laura on a 121 basis to develop the skills that have been identified for you. Your bespoke programme could cover storytelling, rhythm and flow, your stage presence and connection with the audience as well as all of the fundamentals of voice work and embedding positive practice.

Option 3: Group Session

Group training. Half a day. Manchester-based.

A practical introduction to voice coaching, taking in voice techniques, rhythm and flow, audience connection, breathing, posture, range, articulation and resonance.
