Born in Manchester in 1974, Phil Williams has become a mainstay of national radio broadcasting, with over 25 years of experience under his belt. From the early days at BBC Radio 1, Phil has been at the forefront of some of the most pivotal news stories—from high-profile criminal trials to historic sports victories and the rise of legendary music icons. He even managed to navigate the notoriously tricky dynamics of one of Manchester's most famous bands—a rare feat in itself!
A voice familiar to millions, Phil spent 18 years at BBC Radio 5 Live before taking on the challenge of launching a brand-new national station, Times Radio, in 2020. But his journey didn’t stop there—by 2022, he was back at the BBC, joining the ranks of Europe’s most listened-to station, BBC Radio 2.
